Why and How Are Custom Boat Lifts Better?

At IMM Quality Boat Lifts, we hear the same question all the time: Why and how are custom boat lift better than simply tying up your boat to a dock or storing it on land? It’s a common question for those who are deciding whether a custom boat lift is worth the investment.

The short answer? Seasoned boat lift owners would tell you there are plenty of reasons why custom boat lifts are better! Who doesn’t want to quickly access open waters when sailing into the sunset with family and friends?

Customized boat lift installations not only provide many conveniences but also help protect your investment while preventing unnecessary maintenance costs. You can extend the life of your boat and add value to a waterfront property with this one purchase. Finally, you can personalize your one-of-a-kind, custom boat lift to suit your aesthetic style, vessel size, and any unusual docking challenges. It’s a win-win!

Custom Boat Lifts Offer Convenient, Fast & Easy Water Access

When you install a custom boat lift at your waterfront home, you gain the ability to quickly and easily lower your boat into the water with the touch of a button. That means less time waiting to do what you enjoy most. How will you use your extra time on the water? Clients at IMM Quality Boat Lifts report making memories with loved ones, soaking up the sunshine, and fishing as their favorite pastimes.

Then, there’s the hassle of loading and maneuvering your boat trailer each time you’d like to head for open waters. Costly transportation accidents are far too common for comfort. Investing in well-designed custom boat lifts can save you the trouble and the risk associated with getting your vessel to and from the shoreline.

As an added bonus, you will avoid the nightmare of congested lines and full parking lots at public boat ramps. Many boat owners now must compete with commercial boat rental companies who use these public launches for their business ventures. Beyond long lines, there are also ramp and trailer fees, trailer registration and insurance, potential car theft, and marina accidents to consider. What a mess!

Reduced Storage & Maintenance Costs with Custom Boat Lifts

Custom boat lifts also provide free storage for your small, medium or large boat. This is a cost-saving for those who would otherwise need to purchase boat storage. Take the IMM Quality kayak lift, as seen here, for example. Perfect for small personal watercraft such as jet skis, its engineering prioritizes your safety and convenience while keeping your vessel safe and secure, on location. Additional security is possible through boat lift accessories that provide keyed access to the lift controls. This video illustrates exactly how easy these custom boat lifts are to use, even for younger or older adults.

Another advantage of custom boat lifts is the opportunity to store your boat above the water line. This keeps your hull out of the corrosive saltwater so that it avoids wind and rain damage, harmful marine growth, electrolysis, hull blisters, and more. Additionally, you will bypass the issue of fluctuating water levels and time spent scrubbing the boat’s waterline. This offers overall cost and time savings because your boat will need less annual boat maintenance to stay in great condition. It can even extend the life of your boat and increase its resale value!

Added Home Value & Diverse Customization Options

Did you know that custom boat lifts and docks can have a positive impact on the resale value of your home?

According to real estate and industry experts, boat parking is considered one of the top 10 most profitable home improvements for coastal homes. Home buyers are willing to pay more to avoid the headache of construction and permitting a new custom boat lift. As a result, you will see an increase in home value that ranges from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands.

Despite any unique challenges posed by your waterfront home or dock, custom boat lifts for sale come in a range of sizes and styles to suit any location. There are sling lifts for homeowners who are challenged by shallow waters. Elevator boat lifts offer solutions for those who need boat lift installation for a concrete pad, seawall or dock.

Adjustable cradle lifts are also a favorite, because of their practical four- and eight-post options. Or, impress your neighbors with the luxury Titan yacht lift, which uses efficient cycloidal drives to raise and lower large vessels from the water.

The overall size and weight of your boat is another consideration that impacts the boat lift capacity you will need. Custom boat lifts must be selected based on the weight, height, length, and dimensions of your boat.

The Best Custom Engineered Boat Lifts

The Best Custom Engineered Boat Lifts platinum elevator lift
IMM Quality Boat Lifts has a long history of custom engineering. It is fun to take a customer’s dream and make it a reality. A customer of ours from Florida also has a home on Lake Michigan. They wanted to install an elevator style lift to their pier so that the tracks would be able to pivot out of the water during the winter months to avoid damage from the ice. From the customer’s sketches, we were able to design a custom Platinum 20K elevator lift to meet his needs. The tracks have a special bearing plate on the end to rest on the rocky lake bottom. The track to pier mounting brackets were designed with a pivot pin to allow the tracks to swing out of the water. This post details the design of the custom lift that perfectly met our customer’s needs. The following images show the customer’s hand drawn sketches that our engineers used to design the lift. The sketches detail the layout of his pier and steel piles. The sketches also show the foot plate for the track, a removable pile mount bracket and a seawall (pier) mount bracket that has a pin in it, allowing the lift to pivot out of the water. A detailed sketch showing how to offset the pile mount bracket from the pile was also given.   Hand Drawn Sketches From Customer Hand Drawn Sketches From Customer2 Hand Drawn Sketches From Customer3 From these drawings, our engineers were able to design the novel parts that would be needed to make an elevator lift work with our customer’s unique needs.   Sketches Based Off Customer Sketches Here is the design of the elevator track (rails) foot plate that will rest on the rocky bed of Lake Michigan.   Sketches Based Off Customer Sketches2 Here is the design of the removable pile mount bracket that clamps to the elevator track.
